PROS - The great thing about this hotel is it is 1.5km’s drive from the venue, less than 1km if you walk it. It is close to Nanaimo’s Mall (Woodgrove) which has shops, movie’s and places to eat including a food court. Also just across the road from a Starbucks and a great restaurant called Browns Social House. Other restaurants close by are Nori Sushi (Best sushi in Nanaimo!), Ricky’s (Great breakfast restaurant) and Panago Pizza or little Georges Pizza (takeaways). Also across the road from Superstore (large grocery store) and close to a really great bakery - Cobbs Bakery.
CONS - Probably the least upmarket and most basic.
3 star slightly more upmarket. (Distance from Equip Venue to hotel is 4.1km’s)
PROS - Better hotel than best western Northgate, also close to a mall called Rutherford Mall which has various shops, Subway, Movie house. Close to a great Steakhouse/Comfort food restaurant called Montanas and also close to a McDonalds. Fairways market is a handy grocery store in Rutherford mall and they do awesome Chinese takeouts and a cheap breakfast. Also close to a Tim Hortons coffee shop and a good Sushi joint.
CONS - Not within walking distance to the venue, less restaurant and shop options.
Upper 3 star hotel, more upmarket than any of the above. Distance to Equip Venue is 12km’s. Located right close to the waterfront downtown central Nanaimo.
PROS - Really great location for walks along the waterfront and getting a feel for the Nanaimo Old Quarter/Downtown vibe. Lots of quant coffee shops, eclectic little places and small restaurants located right close by the hotel. Definitely more upmarket establishment and on-site restaurant. Fairly close to Asteras and amazing Greek Restaurant in the Old Quarter
CONS - A fair distance to the Equip Venue (probably about a 15 to 20 min drive depending on traffic to the Equip Venue.
Most upmarket venue, often with great views of the harbour and bay. Distance to the Equip Venue is 12km’s. Also located right by the waterfront of downtown Nanaimo.
PROS - Great quality hotel, upmarket. great restaurant and close to all the amenities as mentioned above for the Dorchester Hotel, they are practically neighbours.
CONS - As mentioned for the Dorchester it is also 12km’s from the Venue.
